Obituary

Dickie was born August 4, 1935 in Somerton and moved around age 8 with his family to Phoenix. After high school Dick served in the U.S Navy as a signalman on the U.S.S. Kearsarge, an aircraft carrier transporting troops during the Korean War. After the Navy he served in the Reserves until 1960 when he was discharged and moved into the public work force where he became a "jack of all trades." There wasn't anything he wouldn't try from Chief Bartender to managing a commercial maintenance crew and everything in between.

Dickie died December 26, 2016 and was preceded in death by his son James (Jimbo) Alan Sylvester, survived by: his sisters Neldeanne Kuban and Sue Collins, and also by his sons Willard Richard (Richie) Sylvester, Jr., Darin Richard Sylvester and William Barrett Shephard, along with 13 grandchildren and a whole bunch of great grand kids!

We will always remember the sweet gentle fun loving man who is Uncle Dick. Whether it's hunting in the White Mountains, building a bird house for Nell or rooting for your favorite Nascar drive we will always see you with a smith on your face and a twinkle in your eye.

We love and miss you!
