Obituary

Yuma, AZ-Janet Elise (Hardy) Potwin passed away in the afternoon of October 6, 2023 following a brief but severe illness.  Janet was born on September 26, 1949 and lived in the Upper Valley of New Hampshire and Vermont.  She graduated from Hartford High School in 1967.  Janet married Ronald E. Potwin on July 20, 1968.  Together they had two children, both of whom they loved completely and raised to become wonderful, kind, and caring adults.  She was the daughter of Patricia A. (Rousseau) and D. Everett Hardy, Sr., both of whom predeceased her.

In 1981, Janet and Ron began the grand adventure of moving to Alaska.  They lived and worked in Delta Junction for many years before moving to North Pole (yes the actual town).  They lived and worked there until leaving behind the cold and ice for the sunny southwest; moving to Yuma, Arizona.  Ron is still living in Yuma.

Janet loved crafts and was a master of crochet.  The family has many items that she lovingly made.  There was never a stranger that didn't become a friend.  She was surrounded her devoted family and friends in her final days.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald Potwin of Yuma, AZ, her son Jeffrey (Julie) of Sedro Woolley, Washington, her daughter Amy Potwin Forsythe (Tom) of Thornton, Illinois, four granddaughters, and two great grandchildren.  She is also survived by her sister Linda A. Picken (Norman/Buzz) of White River Junction, Vermont, her brother Dwight (Dan) E. Hardy, Jr. (Carol) of Pomfret, Vermont, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, and two very loving aunts.  She was predeceased by her sister Donna Harrod of Harvard, Massachusetts and her brother Gerry Hardy of Clinton, Massachusetts.

No services are being held.  The family asks that you quietly remember her and if so moved, make a contribution to a faith based charity of your choice.
