Cynthia (Cindy)
Ann Morrison
Mar 25, 1953 — Jan 5, 2021
Yuma
Cynthia Ann DeMeo was born on March 25, 1953, in Mineola, New York, to Victor and Steffie DeMeo. One of four kids, including her twin brother Nick and sisters Christine and Charlene, Cindy, as she was known, grew up in a close and loving family.
Cindy graduated from Paul D. Schreiber High School in Port Washington, New York, in 1971 and married John Morrison of Port Washington five years later in 1976. Initially, Cindy worked at the Lewis Oil Company in Port Washington, but, after moving to Georgia with John, found a new path as a teacher's aide and later as a caretaker for the mentally handicapped.
Upon early retirement, Cindy and John became fulltime campers and found a second life as camp hosts and avid travelers, a passion that took them to 48 states and to countless parks across the country. Together they discovered their favorite spots that included Cody, Wyoming and the Oregon coast.
Cindy, who underwent successful surgery on her spine in October, was looking forward to beginning a new chapter of international travel with a trip to Scotland in May of 2021 with John and the other Morrison siblings.
Cindy passed away on January 5, 2021, in Yuma, Arizona, from complications from Covid-19. She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Steffie DeMeo. She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, John Morrison, her twin brother Nick DeMeo and his wife Linda Ragusa DeMeo, her sister Christine DeMeo, her sister Charlene DeMeo Haughney and her husband Glenn Haughney, 14 nieces and nephews, and several other family members and dear friends.
Those who knew Cindy know that she lived a full and passionate life filled with travel, family, friendships, and, of course, shopping.
She will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts. A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
